On Friday, January 19, 2018, the Rev. Jeffery Stivason, Ph.D. began a new series, “Fixing Our Eyes Upon Jesus, Our High Priest.” This series was based upon the New Testament Letter to the Hebrews. A compact letter that reads more like a sermon or oral presentation than a traditional letter. Written to the Jewish Christian community warning them not to go back to the old ways since Jesus Christ is now the fulfillment of the Old Testament law and prophecy.
Reaching back into the Old Testament the author to the Hebrews draws powerful connections with God speaking to his people through the Prophets, “In the Past” but “in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.” “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Wow!
We have enjoyed an enlightening and rich study of God’s word to his people dealing with an historic change not only in their lives but in their church and their relationship to God the father through his son, Jesus Christ, their Prophet, Priest and King.

Our leader, Dr. Bruce Bickel announced to our fellowship on Friday, December 21, 2018, that he has passed the teaching baton onto Jeff. Bruce’s Parkinson’s disease has progressed in spite of his PT which is slowing it down. The early morning of our teaching makes it difficult for Bruce to get ready and teach us. Bruce will still be teaching at First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Pittsburgh on Tuesdays at Noon. Bruce hopes to join us again to substitute for Jeff as our teacher as needed. Grace and peace to our dear brother in his time of need.
