On Friday, April 29, 2016, Dr. Bruce Bickel launched a new Bible Study series titled “Christian Liberty”. Bruce will be walking us through Paul’s letter to the Galatians. Below is Dr. Bickel’s overview of this study. The Key theme: Christian liberty in the grace of God – The Gospel of Justification by Faith apart from Law-works. Key verse: Galatians 5:1 (ESV) “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Dr. Bickel said in our initial study, “As I begin the letter to the Galatians, men, it’s going to be a very exciting study for us—a wonderful exhibit of God’s grace and mercy. Martin Luther said that he considered Galatians the best of all books in the Bible. It has been called ‘the battle cry of the Reformation’, ‘the great chapter of religious freedom’, ‘the Christian Declaration of Independence.’ It’s such an important book because it answers the age old question, ‘How can a person be content? How can one obtain peace, tranquility, contentment and freedom from fear?’ ”
We completed this study of this important New Testament letter and learned much about the person and work of Jesus Christ. Dr. Bickel was our main teacher unless otherwise indicated.
